Gretchen was friends with Patrick's sister long before she met him, but it didn't take more than that first meeting for sparks to fly.  They fell in love and then the Army took Patrick to Afghanistan.  The separation only fueled their love and they married the summer he returned.  Working with a very small budget ($8000) and a very large circle of friends and family (250) brought out the creativity in us all...a friend designed the wedding invitations, wholesale flowers were turned into bouquets and centerpieces, hay bales were rented (who knew you could do that?!) for extra seating of the huge wedding party.  Instead of an expensive catered dinner, we served a hearty appetizer spread of whole fruits and berries, veggies, cheeses, nuts and breads from a farm wagon in cardboard berry baskets. Since the couple are vegans, the bride's mother made a small cutting cake for them and inexpensive sheet cakes served the guests. Dancing, under the market lights on the edge of a vineyard pond, went well into the night as these lovebirds shared their love story, their way. (Vintage elements from {storehouse}rentals)
